Sam

One day, two kids named Ollie and Charlie were at home. Now, they were playing some games, but they'd been told that it was almost time to pack up.

Charlie

Oh, I wish we had more time,

Sam

said Charlie.

Ollie

Yeah,

Sam

said Ollie,

Ollie

I wish we could play for a bit longer.

Sam

Just then, they heard a voice.

Teddy Winkle

Well, if you want to play for a little bit longer, I've got an- a little bit of an idea.

Charlie and Ollie

Who- who said that?

Sam

said the kids. They looked around their room and all of a sudden, they realised,

Ollie

Hey, that's not our teddy bear!

Teddy Winkle

No, I am not your teddy bear,

Sam

said the teddy bear.

Charlie

Whoa, it- it can talk.

Teddy Winkle

Of course I can talk.

The Time-Stopping Watch

Ollie

Who- who are you?

Sam

said Ollie.

Teddy Winkle

My name's Teddy Winkle! Hello!

Charlie

Um, hi,

Sam

said Charlie.

Ollie

Um, excuse me, Teddy Winkle, what are you doing in our bedroom?

Teddy Winkle

Well, that is a great question, but the answer is quite confusing.

Ollie

Why is it confusing?

Sam

said Ollie.

Teddy Winkle

Because I can't actually remember how I got here, but that's beside the point.

Charlie

But you said that we might be able to have some more playtime. H-how are we gonna do that?

Teddy Winkle

Well, see this?

Sam

said Teddy Winkle, holding up a funny-looking watch.

Ollie

Um, what's that?

Pranking Dad In Frozen Time

Sam

said Ollie.

Teddy Winkle

It seems to slow down time.

Charlie

What do you mean seems to?

Sam

said Charlie.

Teddy Winkle

Well, I haven't played with it that much, but I think that's how I might have got here so quickly without realising how I got here.

Ollie

Well, how does it work?

Sam

said Ollie.

Teddy Winkle

Um, I think, hang on, come here.

Sam

Teddy Winkle walked over to where the boys were and the boys walked over to him, and they all held hands and then Teddy Winkle started turning the dial on his watch. When he did, all of a sudden, the kids realised everything seemed to be slowing down. The clock that had been ticking in their room was now not ticking.

Teddy Winkle

I think we can start moving now,

Sam

said Teddy Winkle.

Charlie and Ollie

O-okay,

Sam

said the boys. So, they started walking around the room, and they walked into the kitchen where their dad was waiting. But he was not moving at all.

Ollie

Teddy Winkle,

Sam

said Ollie,

Ollie

I think- I think we've stopped time.

Teddy Winkle

I think so too. Ha ha! This is amazing!

Sam

The boys walked over to their dad.

Street Sprint And Moving Cars

Charlie

Hey, maybe we can play a little trick on him before we keep moving?

Ollie

Good idea.

Teddy Winkle

Ha ha, that'd be funny. What are we gonna do?

Charlie

Um...

Sam

They looked. Their dad was making toast at the time, so Ollie got a little bit of the butter from his toast and popped it on his nose.

Teddy Winkle

Ha ha, good one!

Sam

Then they kept running.

Charlie

Alright, how long's this time gonna last for?

Sam

said Charlie.

Teddy Winkle

Um, I dunno,

Sam

said Teddy Winkle.

Teddy Winkle

Ah, we'll just have to see.

Sam

As they were running, they could hear Teddy Winkle's watch starting to tick.

Teddy Winkle

Uh oh,

Sam

said Teddy Winkle. As it started to tick, time started to speed up. They walked out of the door to where the kitchen was and into the next room, and they could hear their dad in the other room.

Dad

Hey, how did I get butter on my nose?

Sam

The kids started laughing, and Teddy Winkle was laughing too.

The Chimp Brothers Showdown

Dad

Who's laughing out there?

Sam

said their dad.

Teddy Winkle

Quick, let's keep going.

Ollie

Turn the watch again,

Sam

said Ollie.

Charlie

Yeah, do it,

Sam

said Charlie.

Teddy Winkle

Okay,

Sam

said Teddy Winkle. They held hands and twisted the watch once more, and time slowed down. This time they raced outside. They could see there were cars stopped out the front of their house, but they looked like they had been going fast.

Charlie and Ollie

This is so much fun,

Sam

said the boys.

Charlie

I wonder what else we can do.

Teddy Winkle

Um, let's see if we can run really, really, really fast.

Sam

So, they sprinted as quickly as they could to see how quick they could go. They raced past the car and all the way down the street.

Ollie

This is so much fun. When's the time gonna start again?

Sam

Teddy Winkle looked at his watch.

Teddy Winkle

It's not ticking ye- Uh-oh, it's ticking!

Sam

As they were running, the watch started to tick, and they could see the car behind them starting to move.

Charlie

Ha ha! That was so much fun!

Sam

As they were all running, looking back at the car that was now starting to drive again, they crashed into somebody. Or actually, two somebodies. Pfft!

Chimp Brother 1

Hey, who did that?

Sam

The kids turned around, and standing in front of them were two chimpanzees.

Teddy Winkle

Uh-oh,

Sam

said Teddy Winkle.

Ollie

Why uh-oh?

Sam

said Ollie.

Teddy Winkle

Those are the Chimp Brothers.

Chimp Brother 2

Yeah, we're the Chimp Brothers. And why'd you run into us?

Charlie

Um, sorry,

Sam

said Charlie.

Charlie

We- we weren't looking where we were going.

Chimp Brother 1

Well, you're about to not be looking where you're about to go either. Ha ha, let's see how far we can throw 'em, bro.

Ollie

No, don't throw us!

Chimp Brother 2

Yeah, we're gonna throw you over that house right there. That'd be funny. Actually, nah, let's throw them up in a tree.

Chimp Brother 1

Let's get 'em!

Sam

As the Chimp Brothers were about to grab the kids, Teddy Winkle turned his watch once more. Time stopped. They could see the Chimp Brothers with the looks on their faces of, "I'm about to get you!" But they weren't moving. They were frozen in time.

Teddy Winkle

I've got an idea,

Sam

said Teddy Winkle.

Ollie

What is it?

Sam

said Ollie.

Charlie

Yeah,

Sam

said Charlie.

Charlie

What is it? I think we should just run away.

Teddy Winkle

Nah, let's, uh, let's play a trick on the Chimp Brothers first.

Charlie and Ollie

What?

Sam

said the boys.

Teddy Winkle

Yeah, let's do it! Hey, uh, maybe we could swap their t-shirts and swap their hats, and then they might be confused.

Charlie and Ollie

That would be funny,

Sam

said the boys. So they quickly grabbed the Chimp Brothers' hats and they swapped them over. And they grabbed their t-shirts too and swapped them as well. Now both chimps were in the wrong colour t-shirt and the wrong colour hat. And then-

Ollie

I've got an idea,

Sam

said Ollie.

Teddy Winkle

What is it?

Sam

said Teddy Winkle.

Playing Tricks at Pim Pim's House

Ollie

Well, maybe let's make it look like they're dancing.

Teddy Winkle

Oh ho ho, good idea!

Sam

So, the boys and Teddy Winkle grabbed the Chimp Brothers and moved them together and made it look like they were doing ballroom dancing together. Then they went and hid in the bushes nearby. As Teddy Winkle's watch started to tick again, they could see the Chimp Brothers starting to move.

Chimp Brother 2

We're gonna get- oh. Hey, bro, why are you wearing my t-shirt?

Chimp Brother 1

Bro, why are you wearing my t-shirt? And why are you dancing with me?

Chimp Brother 2

I'm not dancing with you, you're dancing with me.

Chimp Brother 1

No, you're wearing my t-shirt and trying to dance with me. I'm gonna get you!

Chimp Brother 2

No, I'm gonna get you! Aaah! Pthlp!

Sam

The Chimp brothers started tackling and rolling around on the ground. It was very funny. The kids started laughing and Teddy Winkle was laughing too. Then they decided they best run away. So they ran off down the street in a different direction while the Chimp Brothers weren't looking.

Teddy Winkle

Hang on, I know where we are,

Sam

said Teddy Winkle.

Ollie

What? Where are we?

Sam

said Ollie.

Charlie

Yeah,

Sam

said Charlie.

Charlie

Where- where are we?

Teddy Winkle

We're just around the corner from Pim Pim's house.

Charlie and Ollie

Really?

Sam

said the boys.

Teddy Winkle

Really!

Sam

said Teddy Winkle.

Teddy Winkle

Um, would it be okay if we went to his house and played lots of tricks on him?

Charlie and Ollie

Um, sure,

Sam

said the boys.

Charlie

That sounds like fun.

Ollie

Yeah, let's go get him,

Sam

said Ollie.

Teddy Winkle

Ah, okay, well, it's just around this corner,

Ceiling Toys And Sticky Surprises

Sam

said Teddy Winkle. So they turned the corner, and when they got around, they were very, very close to Pim Pim's house. They snuck up to the window to Pim Pim's bedroom and they looked inside. There was Pim Pim, playing with toy cars, driving them around in circles. It was quite funny to watch because he didn't play with toy cars the normal way that other people play with toy cars. He was holding them upside down, and then he was spinning them around in circles and trying to see if he could spin them fast enough that they would turn into helicopters. It was quite strange to watch. The boys found themselves quite mesmerised just watching Pim Pim play for a little while.

Teddy Winkle

Alright,

Sam

said Teddy Winkle.

Teddy Winkle

Are you guys ready to play some tricks?

Charlie and Ollie

Um, what are we going to do?

Sam

said the boys.

Teddy Winkle

Well, there's another thing I've got as well.

Sam

Pim Pim held out a little tube of-

Ollie

What is that?

Sam

said Ollie.

Teddy Winkle

It's a very special glue,

Sam

said Teddy Winkle.

Charlie

What does it do?

Sam

said Charlie.

Teddy Winkle

Well, why don't we stop time and I'll show you,

Sam

said Teddy Winkle.

Charlie and Ollie

Okay!

Sam

said the boys. So they held hands and Teddy Winkle twisted his watch. Time stopped, and they jumped through the window into Pim Pim's bedroom.

Teddy Winkle

Alright, we gotta be quick. I twisted it as far as I could to give us as much time as possible.

Ollie

But what does the glue do?

Sam

said Ollie. Teddy Winkle grabbed one of Pim Pim's toys, put a little bit of glue on it, and then threw it, and Plp! it stuck to the roof.

Charlie and Ollie

What?

Sam

said the boys.

Ollie

We're gonna stick all these toys to the roof?

Teddy Winkle

Yeah, but don't worry, it's a special glue that makes them only stick there for a little while, and then they will come back down.

Charlie

Oh ho ho, that sounds amazing,

Sam

said Charlie.

Teddy Winkle

Alright, quick, let's go!

Sam

So the boys and Teddy Winkle made a little production line. They were sticking little bits of glue on all the toys and throwing them on the roof. Then they decided to lift Pim Pim's bed up and stick it to the roof and everything in Pim Pim's room.

Teddy Winkle

I think my watch is starting to tick!

Sam

said Teddy Winkle.

Teddy Winkle

Quick! Hide!

Sam

The boys and Teddy Winkle dove out the window just as Pim Pim started to move again.

Pim Pim

And I- What just happened to my... Everything is gone! Uh, somebody took all my things,

Sam

said Pim Pim. He looked around and then he looked up.

Pim Pim

Baah! Who stuck everything to my ceiling? Did I do that? I don't think so. Um, maybe? Uh, I'm very, very confused.

Sam

Just then Pim Pim's mum walked into his bedroom.

Pim Pim's mum

Pim Pim! You need to clean your- Where's all your things?

Pim Pim

Um,

Sam

said Pim Pim. Then his mummy looked up.

Pim Pim's mum

Pim Pim, did you stick everything to the roof again?

Pim Pim

I didn't do it this time. I don't think so. It wasn't me,

Sam

said Pim Pim.

Home Again

Pim Pim's mum

Oh, Pim Pim, you need to clean your room right now. I want everything back the way that it was meant to be.

Pim Pim

Oh dear,

Sam

said Pim Pim.

Pim Pim

I don't think it was-

Sam

Just then, Teddy Winkle popped his head up in the window.

Teddy Winkle

Haha, tricked you,

Sam

said Teddy Winkle.

Pim Pim

Teddy Winkle?

Teddy Winkle

Ah yeah, that was us. Haha, it was pretty funny, wasn't it?

Pim Pim's mum

Teddy Winkle, did you do this?

Teddy Winkle

Uuuum, yes, I did.

Pim Pim's mum

That's pretty funny,

Sam

said Pim Pim's mummy.

Pim Pim

What? When I did it you said that it was very, very cheeky, and when Teddy Winkle does it, you think it is funny?

Pim Pim's mum

Um, well, it was pretty funny the first time. I just didn't want you to do it again,

Sam

said Pim Pim's mummy.

Charlie and Ollie

Don't worry,

Sam

said Ollie and Charlie.

Ollie

It'll all come back down very soon.

Pim Pim

Okay, well, in the meantime, I need a bit more of that glue.

Teddy Winkle

What?

Sam

said Teddy Winkle. Pim Pim took the glue off Teddy Winkle and put a little bit on his foot, and then he started trying to walk up the walls until he was on the ceiling as well.

Pim Pim

I'm gonna play on the ceiling now with all my toys. Hooray!

Sam

said Pim Pim.

Pim Pim's mum

Nyoh, Pim Pim,

Sam

said his mummy.

Teddy Winkle

Alright, boys, we better get you back home.

Ollie

Yeah,

Sam

said Ollie.

Ollie

We better race back home as quick as we can.

Sam

So, Teddy Winkle and the boys raced all the way back to their house.

Charlie and Ollie

Bye, Pim Pim!

Sam

they yelled as they ran away. But Pim Pim was far too distracted, playing with everything upside down. It was a very fun day for him. As the boys got back home, they walked in the front door, and their dad was standing there, still with butter on his nose.

Dad

Um, boys,

Sam

he said,

Dad

do you know how I got butter on my nose?

Ollie

Well,

Sam

said Ollie,

Ollie

I don't think you'd believe us, even if we told you.

Sam

And that is the end of the story.
