One day a little girl named Eliane was sitting at home. Now, as she was sitting in her house, she was staring out the window. You see, it was raining today, and when it was raining outside she didn't get to do the same kind of playing that she normally did. She really wanted to go outside, but, man, it was coming down hard. There was rain everywhere. So as she sat and she stared out the window, all of a sudden she felt like she could hear something, a tiny little voice Eliane, Eliane. She looked around her room, but she couldn't see anything anywhere. Where is that voice coming from? She thought. She started looking in all the different areas of her bedroom. She could hear it. Still, eliane, down here, said the voice. She looked down at the ground and there was something teeny, teeny, tiny. Um, are you talking to me? Said Eliane. I am, said the voice. It's Gloria, said the tiny, tiny, tiny little girl. Um, how are you so small, said Ellie Anne. Well, said Gloria, you'll be very small too in a moment. What said Ellie Anne? And with that, all of a sudden, she began to shrink. She got smaller and smaller, and smaller and smaller, until she was the same size as Gloria. Wow, said Ellie Ann. What happened? Well, said Gloria, I needed your help for a very special adventure. Do you think that you could come with me? Yes, please, said Ellie Ann. I don't have anything to do because it's raining outside and I can't go outside. Well, said Gloria, we're going to have to go outside. What said Eliane? But the raindrops they'll wait and see, said Gloria. Okay, said Eliane.
Speaker 1:So Gloria and Eliane started working their way across the bedroom. It was very strange, being so small. They walked and they walked, but they hardly got anywhere. All the little strands of Eliane's carpet on her bedroom floor seemed like giant trees as they waded through the middle of the floor and kept going through. Um, gloria, what's this special adventure? Oh, you'll see very, very shortly, said Gloria. Come on, let's go.
Speaker 1:So as they raced through the carpet, gloria started to jump. Wow, said Ellie Ann, you can jump really far. Yeah, it's something special about being so small. Our jumping powers get extra good. Oh, can I try, said Ellie Ann. Go for it, said Gloria. So Ellie Ann started jumping from piece of carpet to piece of carpet and she could fly through the air. Wow, look how high I'm jumping. It's fantastic, isn't it, said Gloria. But we're almost there Almost where, said Ellie Ann. As she looked across, she realised there was a tiny little hole in the wall of her room. Where does this hole go? Said Ellie Ann. Come on, said Gloria, come, let's see. So Gloria and Ellie Ann started walking through the hole.
Speaker 1:When they got halfway through, there was a tiny little ant standing at some kind of gate. Oh, gloria, it said Are you ready to go back outside? I am, said Gloria. Did that ant just talk? Said Ellie Anne. Yes, said Gloria, he's one of my friends. Hello, said the ant. My name is Antony and I am the keeper of this gate. Are you allowed to come out? Um, I think so, said Eliane. She is, said Gloria, she's with me. Oh, very good. Well, be careful, because those raindrops, they're very, very big today, said Antony. We will, said Gloria, we'll be very careful.
Speaker 1:As they walked past Antony, he lifted the gate so that they could get out through the tiny little hole in the wall. When they got to the other side, ellie Ann could see it. Wow, she said Look at the size of the raindrops. The raindrops came falling from the sky like giant balls of water that would explode into tiny little balls of water. Wow, this is looking pretty scary. Don't worry, said Gloria, I brought these.
Speaker 1:Gloria pulled out two very funny looking raincoats. Ellie Ann held it up and had a look. Um, I don't think this is going to save us from those giant drops of rain. She said Just try, said Gloria. Okay, said Ellie Ann. So she put on the very special rain jacket.
Speaker 1:The rain jacket was very, very comfortable. On the inside it was all fuzzy and warm and on the outside it was almost like Some form of armour. This feels really strange, said Eliane. I know, said Gloria, step out into the rain and see what happens. Um, are you sure, said Eliane, watching as another giant droplet of rain came flying down towards the ground. Trust me, said Gloria, it will be fine. So Eliane stepped out and a giant raindrop was flying straight towards her. Ah, said Ellie-Anne. But as the raindrop was about to hit her, it was almost like there was some force field around the outside of her. It exploded over the top of her head and sprayed all around her. I'm not even wet, said Ellie-Anne. I know, said Gloria, they're very, very special rain jackets.
Speaker 1:Ellie Anne thought it was amazing. She started running around the yard trying to catch the giant raindrops, but every time one got close, it would explode into tiny little raindrops that would go everywhere. All right, said Gloria. Now it's time for our transport. Transport, said Ellie Anne. Yes, said Gloria, hang on. Gloria turned and she whistled off into the distance and with that Ellie Ann could hear some noises coming towards them.
Speaker 1:Are they frogs? Said Ellie Ann. Out from behind the bushes, two frogs jumped right in front of them. Whoa, said Ellie Ann. Hello, hello, said one of the frogs. Hello, said the other. Hi, said Gloria. Are you able to take us across to the other tree on the other side of the backyard? Yes, yes, yes, thank you, said Ellie Ann. Climb on, said Gloria. So Gloria and Eliane each climbed onto the back of a frog. Hold on, hold on, said the frogs. Hold on to what, said Eliane? Just grab on, said Gloria. Eliane wrapped her hands around the frog and held on as tight as she could. Then it leapt into the sky. Boing, wow, said Ellie Ann as she looked down at the whole backyard.
Speaker 1:The frogs started jumping all around the yard until they got to the other side of the backyard, they were at the base of a big, big tree. Back again, back again, said the frogs. Not for us, said Gloria. Quick hop off. So Eliane and Gloria both hopped off the frogs.
Speaker 1:As they hopped back across the backyard over to where they had been and off into the bushes, eliane looked. There was a hole at the bottom of the tree. Um, what are we doing here, gloria? Well, said Gloria. A friend of mine has been stuck in this hole since the rain started and I thought that we should come across and give them some company. Oh, that's a great idea, said Eliane.
Speaker 1:Peach walked over and knocked on the edge of the hole at the bottom of the tree. As she did, a tiny little squirrel poked its head out. Hello, said the squirrel. Hi, said Gloria. Gloria, said the squirrel. Have you come to keep me company? We have, we, said the squirrel. The squirrel looked across. She saw that Ellie-Anne had come as well. Who's this? Said the squirrel. Hi, said Ellie-Anne. My name's Ellie-Anne, and Gloria brought me across. We thought we could keep you company. My name's Ellie-Anne, and Gloria brought me across. We thought we could keep you company, said the squirrel. Sounds fantastic, come in, come in, come in.
Speaker 1:So Gloria and Ellie-Anne went in through the tiny little hole into the tree. When they looked around, it was incredible. Inside there was all kinds of furniture made out of pieces of the tree and funny little paths carved all the way up it. Ellie-anne stood in the middle and looked up. Wow, she said this is incredible. Yes, said the squirrel, I've worked very, very hard. Oh, thank you so much for coming and keeping me company. It's been so lonely in the tree all by myself, she said. We know, said Gloria, it's more fun when you get to do things with other people. Who would like a cup of squirrel tea, said the squirrel. Oh, that sounds delicious, said Eliane. It is delicious, said Gloria. Me please, Me too, said Eliane.
Speaker 1:So they sat down at a table that had been carved out of the insides of the tree and the squirrel started pouring cups of tea for Eliane and for Gloria. As they sipped on the tea, it made Ellie Anne feel kind of tingly. This is very, very delicious, she said. Yes, said the squirrel, it has super warming powers for those very cold days. I know, said Ellie Anne, I feel so warm and comfortable. It was lovely.
Speaker 1:Ellie-anne, gloria and the squirrel sat and drank tea and talked and talked. All afternoon they even played a few games like hide and seek inside the big tree. It was very fun. There were lots of different areas to hide. But as the day was coming to a close, ellie-anne looked out the little hole at the bottom of the tree. Look, she said, the rain it seems to be stopping. Hooray, said the squirrel. Hooray said Gloria, we better get you back home. She said to Ellie Ann oh yeah, we better go quickly. Well, said the squirrel, maybe I could give you a very quick run across the backyard, seeing it's not raining anymore. Really, said Ellie Ann. Really said the squirrel, jump on.
Speaker 1:So Ellie Ann and Gloria jumped on the back of the squirrel and said the squirrel, jump on. So Ellie-Anne and Gloria jumped on the back of the squirrel and then the squirrel began to run, but not out the hole in the bottom of the tree, it ran up to the top of the tree. Whoa, what are we doing? Said Ellie-Anne. Did I not tell you, said Gloria, my friend here, cynthia, is actually a flying squirrel. A flying squirrel, said Ellie-Anne. Hold on, said Cynthia the squirrel, and she jumped from the tree and started to glide across the whole backyard. Whoa, said Ellie-Anne, as they flew and glided all the way right back to the tiny little hole that led back inside Ellie-Anne's bedroom. Okay, said Cynthia, have fun, I'll see you next time. And with that, cynthia went running off back through the backyard.
Speaker 1:Gloria and Eliane walked back in. Well, said Anthony, how did it all go? It was fantastic, said Eliane. Yeah, said Gloria. Everything went amazingly. All right, let me open the gate. Antony opened the gate and Gloria and Eliane walked back through into Eliane's bedroom.
Speaker 1:As soon as they were through, gloria grabbed a hold of Eliane's jacket. Quick, take off the jacket. As she took it off, eliane was wondering why so quick? I think the smallness is about to wear off. What said Eliane? And with that, she is about to wear off. What said Ellie Ann? And with that she went back to normal size. Whoa, that was. That was incredible. She crouched down very, very low. Thank you, gloria, she said You're welcome, said Gloria, as she jumped back through the hole in the wall and ran off through the backyard.
Speaker 1:As Eliane went back over to her window to look outside, she could see the sun that was creeping through the trees. Just then her mummy walked into her room. Look, eliane, the rain seems to have stopped. You can go outside now. What did you get up to while it was raining? Well, said Eliane. I don't think you'd believe me, even if I told you, and that is the end of the story. Big as raindrops, they can explode any size raindrop into tiny little droplets and you'll never even get wet. We hope that you've been enjoying the silly stories for kids. Make sure to share them with every single one of your friends. This has been me, gloria, and me, sam. We'll see you soon.
