Speaker 1:

One day, four little kids named Charlie, hunter, Elodie and Paddy were all sitting at home. Now, this was a very special time of day where they had to be super duper quiet because their parents were actually recording a podcast. Now, as their parents were in the other room, the kids could hear them talking. They were talking about all kinds of strange things that the kids didn't really understand, but they knew their job be very quiet and stay out of trouble. Okay, said Charlie, we need to make sure that we stay extra quiet. This is a very important one. Yes, said Hunter, we definitely need to stay as quiet as possible. Paddy was getting very excited and starting to play with a few of the toys. Um, paddy, said Elodie, make sure that you're very, very quiet. Why are you trying to be so quiet? They heard a voice. Who said that? Said Charlie. They looked around the room. I think that quiet is very overrated, said the voice. Um, who's saying that? Said the kids. Well, it is actually as he was talking. All of a sudden, something jumped out from behind the couch. Well, it is actually as he was talking. All of a sudden, something jumped out from behind the couch, a purple, fuzzy creature. Who are you? Said Elodie, my name is the Pim-Pim, said Pim-Pim, and I am here to make sure that you have lots and lots of fun. As Pim-Pim was talking, they could hear their mummy and their daddy in the other room. Shhh, um, you need to be very quiet. Pimpin, said Elodie. Yes, said Hunter, mummy and Daddy are recording in the other room. Well, I think if they are recording that, maybe we should do our own recording as well. That could be fun. What do you mean, said Charlie. Well, let's do our own very special podcast. What do you think Could that be fun? Um, maybe, said Elodie. Definitely, said Paddy, definitely, definitely, definitely. He said dancing around the room, I like this kid. Okay, let's do our own podcast. Okay, first of all, we need to set up our very special studio. Um, how are we going to set up a studio, said Charlie. Don't worry, said Pimpin, I brought all of my own gear. Oh, that's great, said Charlie. Um, do you need any help carrying it? Well, definitely, said Pimpin, come with me.

Speaker 1:

So the kids followed Pimpin out the front door out to a very strange looking van, and in the back of the van they could see all kinds of funny looking boxes and all kinds of cases and lights and all sorts of things. Um, that's a lot of stuff, said Elodie. Yes, said Hunter. That's so much stuff, hence why I need you to come help me carry it all inside. Okay, everybody, pick up a box, said pim pim. So pim pim and the kids all started carrying everything in, box by box by box. There was so many different boxes and as the kids were carrying them in, some of the boxes appeared to be moving as well. Um, pim pim, my box is moving a little bit, or keep that one quiet, said pim pim. Whatim, what do you mean? Keep it quiet, said Allie. Is it alive? Uh, yes, it is definitely alive. So keep that box closed. Okay, put that one in the corner, said Pimpim.

Speaker 1:

The kids carried in all the boxes and suitcases and things and put them all in the space that Pimpim had decided was perfect for podcasting. Okay, first thing about podcasting and doing the recordings is we need to make sure that the room is very, very silent. That means lots of soundproofing. Okay, I need everybody to get every pillow in the whole entire house. Um, okay, so the kids, let's go.

Speaker 1:

So the kids raced out to find the pillows in the house. They went into every room and pulled off every single pillow, off every bed. What about couch cushions, said Hunter. Oh, yes, good thinking, said Pimpin, grab all the couch cushions. So the kids started pulling off all the cushions from all the couches. Once they had pulled off all the pillows and all the cushions, they looked around. Um, this is not enough, said Pimpin. We need more soundproofing. Okay, go get all the mattresses, said Pimpin. Okay, said the kids.

Speaker 1:

They all went off and worked together. Charlie and Elodie were carrying one mattress, while Hunter and Paddy were trying to carry another one. Pimpin ran around the house pulling off everything soft he could possibly find. He found the mat and a few donors, and then he even tried to grab the dog and bring in the dog as well. Bonnie was not impressed, but Pimpin positioned Bonnie, the golden retriever, in the corner of the room. Okay, doggy, you stay here. You're going to be our base trap. Okay, make sure you catch all the big bassy notes from the recordings. Okay, the dog was very confused, but it laid down anyway and stayed very, very still.

Speaker 1:

The kids were so excited as they were starting to set up the room. They put the pillows all around the space until it was like they were inside a giant cushiony pillow fort. This is fun. Pimpin, said Elodie, oh, where do we really start? What do you mean? Said Hunter. This is looking pretty good. Yes, said Charlie. Oh, no, this is just the outside cone for the soundproofing. What do you mean? The outside cone? We need to fill it with the real soundproofing, said Pimpin. What's the real soundproofing, said the kids Pimpin. What's the real soundproofing? Said the kids.

Speaker 1:

Pimpin raced over to one of the boxes and he pulled out some kind of strange looking can Pimpin? What is that? Said Charlie. Oh, this is the very special soundproofing spray. Okay, here you hold on to this, Paddy. I don't think you should give it to Paddy. That's probably not a great idea. He's very little. Oh, yes, I know, that is why we use him. He can get in all the tight little spaces. Okay, paddy, go, yelled Pimpin.

Speaker 1:

And with that Paddy started running around the soundproofing area spraying the special spray into every corner. It looked like a little fine film. Oh, it's not too bad, said Charlie. But then the film started to grow. It was like some kind of strange cloud that started to get bigger and bigger and bigger. Pim-pim, the room's filling with the cloud stuff. Uh-oh, said Pim-pim, we may have used a little bit too much. Okay, quick, kids, push it all into the corners. Okay, said the kids. So they all worked together and started pushing all the foamy, fluffy stuff into all the corners of the special pillow fort. They pushed as hard as they could. It's still growing, said Elodie. Okay, work faster. Said Pimpin. Push, push, push, he said. And as they started to push, they realized the biggest problem in the scenario Paddy was still spraying more of it everywhere. Uh-oh, paddy, please stop, said Pimpin. Uh, okay, said Paddy. Psh, psh, psh, paddy, are you still spraying? Uh, maybe, said Paddy. Paddy said Pimpin, you need to pause. Okay, said Paddy, and Paddy put down the can.

Speaker 1:

While they were pushing and working as hard as they could, the kids continued to stuff the spaces until it is so quiet in here, said Hunter, so, so quiet, said Elodie, I can hardly even hear my own voice. Said Charlie, that is perfect, said Pimpin. Now we can be as loud as we want, and that means it is time for the microphones. Uh, okay, said the kids Pimpin. And the kids went over to try and find the other boxes. Uh-oh, said Pimpin, what do you mean? Uh-oh, said the kids.

Speaker 1:

Well, boxes. Uh-oh, said Pimpin, what do you mean? Uh-oh, said the kids. Well, we did the soundproofing before. We got all the boxes in the right location. We need to find them now.

Speaker 1:

They appear to be hidden somewhere within all the soundproofing fluffy stuff. Oh, dear, said the kids, what are we gonna do? Um, let's go finding, said Pimpin. He raced to the side of the pillow enclosure and dove very quickly into all the fluff. Where'd he go, said Elodie. I don't know, said Charlie, he seems to be gone. And then he popped out in a completely different location. Ah, said Charlie. As Pimpin popped out next to him, I found the box. He brought it back to the middle. Okay, kids, you need to do some of the finding as well. You go dive into all the different spaces and see what happens. Okay, said the kids.

Speaker 1:

And so they raced around the pillow area, diving into different corners to try and find different boxes. As they dived in, they would swim around until they felt something cardboard, and then they would grab, hold and try and climb back out. As they pulled all the different boxes out, pimpin began to count One, two, seven, four, eight, three, two, nine, one. Pimpin, what are you doing? I am trying to do my counting, but I'm not very good at it yet, so I'm just guessing that maybe we got all the boxes. I hope so, said the kids. Okay, it is microphone time.

Speaker 1:

I think that is this box over here, said Pim Pim, as he reached over and picked up one of the boxes. As he opened it up, something jumped out. What is that? Said the kids. Uh-oh, that was the box that we were not meant to open. What is it?

Speaker 1:

Said Paddy, it is the compression. What do you mean? It's the compression, said Hunter. He likes to go around. And, said Elodie, as she was getting squished, he's squeezing me as tight as he can. Yes, he likes to compress things. Look out, as it was running around.

Speaker 1:

It would grab onto something and squeeze it as tight as it could, said Charlie, as he was getting completely squished. It can really squeeze. Yes, it is very useful at some times, but not at other times. So we need to catch him. How do we catch him? Said Elodie, you need to catch him and give him a squeeze. Okay, said Hunter, as the compression was diving towards him. Hunter dove out and grabbed it as tight as he could. It slowed down and it stopped. Okay, quick, put him back inside the box. Okay, said the kids, and so they stuffed it back inside the box and closed it up again.

Speaker 1:

They could hear inside the box Spray some of the soundproofy stuff. We don't want to be able to hear him, said Pimpin. Okay, said the kids. So they sprayed some of the soundproofing stuff over the top of the compression box and it was quiet.

Speaker 1:

Now where were those microphones? Said Pimpin, and so he started looking. I'm pretty sure it is this one, he said this time he opened it very slowly to look inside. Um, yes, this is it, said Pimpin. Okay, kiddies, let's open up the microphones. As he opened up the box, the kids pulled them out. These don't look like normal microphones, said Hunter. No, not at all, said Charlie. I know, said Pimpin, because these are the special microphones. They do voice-changing things and everything. Uh, really, said the kids. Yes, we need to do lots and lots of the fun. Okay, here you go, paddy.

Speaker 1:

Pimpin handed one of the microphones over to Paddy. Paddy picked it up. I like this microphone. That could be very. Oh no, everybody, said Paddy. The kids all laughed. Paddy, listen to your voice. I know it's a moving tape, said Paddy, making all the funny noises.

Speaker 1:

Let me try one, said Hunter. Here you go. Hunter, said Pimpin, as he threw a microphone across to him. Hunter picked up the mic and looked into it. Hello, did you hear that, said Hunter. I did, said Elodie. Do it again. Hello everybody, I like this microphone because it makes me sound very, very high-pitched. Whee, said Hunter. I like this one. That is so much fun. What about me, said Elodie, can I try one too? Sure, said Pimpin, as he threw another mic over to her.

Speaker 1:

Elodie caught the mic and she started to talk. Hello, wow, my microphone is very, very quiet. She said yes, it is quiet. Try to yell as loud as you can, said Pimpin. They could hardly hear her at all. Um, pimpim said Charlie, that's not going to work for the podcast. We won't be able to hear anything that Elodie has to say. Oh yes, said Pim Pim. Hang on, elodie, I will try the other mode. Okay, said Elodie into the microphone.

Speaker 1:

Pim Pim reached down the bottom of the microphone and started to twist a dial. As he twisted it up, he said Okay, elodie, give it a go and see. Okay, oh no, that is too loud. Sorry, pimpim, yelled Elodie. I'm trying to whisper as quietly as I can. Okay, hang on, I do the adjusting.

Speaker 1:

Pimpim started adjusting the microphone once more. He twisted it all the way around. I think that is uh, okay, there we go, said Bim Bim. The kids all laughed. I think that's. Oh, that's perfect, said Elodie. That's a much better volume. Yes, okay, and you can change it whenever you need. What about me? Said Charlie. Oh, yes, I saved this microphone for you.

Speaker 1:

Charlie picked up the microphone. Um, I'm not sure I want to try it. What does it do? Um, I don't remember, said Bim Bim. Well, said Charlie, I guess we can only try.

Speaker 1:

So Charlie picked up the microphone, held it up to his mouth and began to talk. Hello, everybody, I am talking into the microphone and it seems to be making my voice go up and down, he said. The kids all laughed. Okay, said Pimpim, I think we are ready to record our podcast. Are you kids ready? Um, I think so. They said, okay, everybody pick up their microphone and we are going to do some very silly things. So the kids each picked up their microphone and held it up to their mouth. What are we going to talk about on the podcast, said Ality. Well, said Pimpim, you can talk about whatever you like. Um, let's talk about the games we like to play, said the kids. Okay, said Pimpin, Are you ready? I will be the recording engineer.

Speaker 1:

So Pimpin went over to a funny looking sound desk that he pulled out of a different box and he started controlling all the different knobs and things. Okay, everybody, let's go, said Pimpin. So the kids started to talk and they shared all their most favourite exciting games that they would play in the afternoons. They shared about funny games of hide and seek and games where they would imagine whatever they could and try and pretend to be it. They even told everybody about a game they would play where they would start a special sentence and then the person who was next had to make up the next part of the story. They were very fun games. These are fantastic, said Pimpin. Everybody everywhere would love to hear about all the special games you play. This has been so much fun. Oh, we love it, said the kids. But I think Mum and Dad will be finished recording soon.

Speaker 1:

And all of a sudden they saw something starting to push through the side of their soundproofed area. With that, their mummy and their daddy's heads poked through the side of their soundproofed area. With that, their mummy and their daddy's heads poked through the middle. They looked in at everything that was going on inside Kids. They said what is going on in here and what's inside this box? Said their dad, don't open that one. Said the kids, why not? As he opened the box, the compression jumped out and started squeezing. Everybody, said the kids. It raced up to their dad and gave him the biggest squeeze. They had ever seen. What is going on. He said Well, said Charlie, I don't think you'd believe us, even if we told you. And that is the end of the story. And that is the end of the story.
