Welcome to Silly Stories for Kids from the car, a special episode recorded live while I'm driving home. I hope you enjoy it. Little kids named Rowan and Milo were sitting in their backyard. Now, as they were sitting, they were waiting for something. They didn't quite know what, but a letter had arrived in their letterbox a few days before. It said Dear Milo and Rowan, there is a very special surprise coming your way. We hope you enjoy it. Make sure that you are sitting on your back deck at exactly 4.50pm. From anonymous I wonder who it's from, thought Milo.
Speaker 1:I have no idea, said Rowan, but we need to make sure that we're sitting there at the exact right time to wait and see. So here they were, sitting on their back deck, waiting for something that they had no idea what it was. As they were sitting, all of a sudden, first thing they heard was a noise Wow, wow, wow, wow, wow, wow, wow. What is that noise? Said Rowan. I don't know, said Milo. They looked around to try and see. There was nothing that they could see coming from anywhere. They looked all around until eventually Rowan looked up and as he did, he spotted something high in the air. Um, milo, look up. As Milo looked up he saw. Is that a spaceship? Said Milo. It is, said Rowan, and sitting in the spaceship was a little green alien. Hello, my name is Beeple. Did you get my letter? Uh, yes, said Rowan. We did. Yeah, said Milo. We were sitting at the exact right time. Yes, I'm very sorry, I was four seconds late. Um, we didn't notice, said Milo. We didn't notice, said Milo. Oh, that is good, said the alien. My name is Beepo. Did you hear me say that? Yes, we did, beepo. Why did you send us that letter? Because I need two kids, just like you, to come with me on a very special adventure. Would you like to come, said Beepo. Yes, please, said Rowan. Definitely, said Milo. So, as they were sitting, beepo sent down a very special tractor beam that picked them up from their sitting place and brought them into his spaceship. Hooray, he said, uh, hooray, said the kids. Well, are you ready? First thing you need to do is learn how to fly my spaceship. Learn how to fly it, said Rowan. Why? Because part of the very special adventure that we're going on will involve you needing to fly the spaceship. But why, said Milo? Because it's fun, said Beepo. Oh, are you ready? Uh, yes, said Rowan. I think so. Um, I've never flown a spaceship before, said Milo. Don't worry, said Beepo, it is easy, easy.
Speaker 1:As the boys looked, they saw all kinds of buttons and levers and knobs and everything all over the giant control panel. But, beepo, they said, there's so many buttons and so many things, how will we learn what they all do? Well, most of them are actually pretend. They are actually just for fun. You can press any button you like. Really, said Rowan. Really, said Beepo. So Rowan leant forward and was about to press a button. No, not that one, said Beepo. Oh sorry, said Rowan. No, I was just tricking. The kids laughed Okay, I'm going to press some of the buttons. So they started to press different buttons in the spaceship. It was a lot of fun. They made different beeps and sounds and all kinds of things.
Speaker 1:But, beepo, if all these buttons are pretend, how do we fly the spaceship? This spaceship has a very special setting. All you need to do is think where you want to go. Really, said the kids. Really said Beepo, watch this, I will think about heading towards the moon. Ah, okay, said the kids. Really said Beepo, watch this, I will think about heading towards the moon. Okay, said the kids.
Speaker 1:Then Beepo started to think and as he did, the spaceship lifted off. It started heading directly upwards, straight towards. We're heading to the moon, said the kids. Yes, you are Now. Would you like to try? Okay, they said. But how do we know where we want to go? Well, I will tell you.
Speaker 1:Seeing we are at the moon, let's go to the next planet after Earth. Do you know what that is? Said Beepo. Um, I don't think so, said Milo. Is it Mars? Said Rowan. It is Mars. Okay, okay, rowan, you can do the flying this time. All you need to think about is Mars. Okay, he said.
Speaker 1:And so, with that, rowan began to think about the planet Mars. He knew it was red and he didn't really know exactly where it was. But as he began to think, the spaceship began to move. It's working, said Beepo. How do I know if I'm going the right direction, said Rowan. Look at the screen, said Beepo. So Rowan looked at the screen and, sure enough, he could see a dot on the screen that they were getting closer to. Is that dot Mars, said Rowan. It is, said Beepo. Hooray, he said.
Speaker 1:But now, if we're heading to Mars, is that where we're meant to be going? No, the next place that we need to be going. Only I know where it is. Okay, said the kids. So are you going to fly us there? Definitely, said Beepo. But while I do, can you press as many buttons as you can? Okay, said the kids. So the kids began to press every button they could possibly see on the entire control panel and Beepo started to fly the spaceship using his thinking. As the spaceship flew and the kids pressed buttons, the trip went very quickly until they could see a planet that was getting closer. Is that where we're heading? Said Milo.
Speaker 2:It is said Beepo.
Speaker 1:Hooray cheered the kids as the spaceship zoomed down towards the planet and landed on its surface. The doors slowly opened. Um Beepo, said Rowan. Yes, said Beepo, you haven't told us what we're here for. Oh, it is a very, very special mission. I need your help because it is so important, said Beepo. What's so important about it, said Milo, you will see, said Beepo.
Speaker 1:So Beepo started to lead the way and as the kids stepped out of the spaceship, the planet was incredible. It was completely purple, a very strange colour purple. They watched as little things started to pop out of the ground. It was like strange plants were growing in an instant. They would pop up and grow and then they would lift into the air, and then they would spin around and then disappear. Meanwhile, more of the very special plants would grow up out of the ground and disappear. "'okay, it is this way', said Beepo, as he was holding some kind of special tool that seemed to have a map on it. "'okay', said the kids. They started following Beepo. Everywhere they walked, the little spinny things kept popping up out of the ground and disappearing. "'what are those things? Things, said Milo. Oh, they are the native plants of this planet. They are called poppy disappearing whoopies. That's a funny name, said Milo. I know, said Beepo. I made it up myself. But, beepo, you still haven't told us why we're here or where we're going. You will see, said Beepo, as he continued to lead the kids going. You will see, said Bebo, as he continued to lead the kids.
Speaker 1:As they walked up over the top of a purple little hill and looked down at the other side, they could see something strange. There were all these funny looking rocks that were kind of like crystals. They were slightly see-through and slightly coloured. This was the first thing they had seen on the planet that was not completely purple. They had some strange streaks of blue through the middle. We are here, said Beepo. What is this? Said Rowan. Ah, yes, I haven't told you, but you will find out in the best kind of way, said Beepo. Really, what's he talking about? Said Milo. I don't know, said Rowan. Let's keep following.
Speaker 1:So the kids followed Beepo down the other side of the hill and they walked over to the first of the funny blue looking crystals. Ah yes, this is where I need your help, said Beepo. What do we need to do? Said Rowan. Beepo pressed a button and out of his pocket came two very big hammers. You need to smash it, said Beepo. What said Rowan? How come? You will see, you will see, you will see, said Beepo.
Speaker 1:So Rowan and Milo took a hammer each and they started to swing it down towards the blue crystal. As Milo's hammer hit, and they started to swing it down towards the blue crystal, as Milo's hammer hit, part of the blue crystal shattered into smaller pieces. And as Rowan's hammer hit, it smashed into even more pieces. "'hooray', said Beepo. "'why are we smashing these crystals', said Rowan. "'have a taste'. "'taste', said Rowan. "'what are you talking about'. "'try it, try it, try it. So the boys bent down and picked up one of the little pieces each and popped it in their mouth. It's the most delicious tasting lolly I think I've ever had. Called Rowan very, very loudly. Yippee, said Milo. I told you it is so much fun. Smash some more, smash some more, said Beepo. So the boys began to smash and smash, and smash and smash. They smashed so many of the crystals into tiny little pieces. What now? Said Rowan, now we need to collect it.
Speaker 2:Oh said the boys.
Speaker 1:Okay. Beepo pulled out another two things from his pocket. They were bags, and they used the bags to fill with all the little pieces of the special blue crystal. This is so much fun. They kept eating tiny little bits as they went. It was sweet and delicious and absolutely amazing. This is so much fun, said Rowan. Yes, said Milo. But what are we going to do with all this? Oh, yes, that is the very special part of the mission. All right, are all the bags full? Full, said Beepo. Um, I think so, said the kids, trying to stuff more into the last little bits. Okay, it is time for us to go.
Speaker 1:So the kids followed Beepo all the way back to the spaceship and they lifted the bags in. They were very heavy and it took all their might to lift them onto the spaceship. Once they were all in, beepo sat down in a different chair. Okay, it is your turn to fly. Why is it our turn to fly? Said Rowan. Because, said Beepo, I want to eat lollies on the way home. The boys laughed and Rowan sat in the pilot's seat. Where are we going, he said. Home, said Beepo. Rowan knew his home well, so that is what he thought of. And as he did.
Speaker 1:The spaceship lifted up and started to sail through the air. It started to boost out of the planet's atmosphere and started blasting back through space the whole way home. They took turns eating little pieces of the special lolly and pressing all the buttons on the control panel. Pieces of the special lolly and pressing all the buttons on the control panel. As they flew back into the Earth's atmosphere and cruised back down towards Rowan's house, beepo stopped. Oh, we better drop this off first before I send you home. Oh, where do we need to drop it off? Don't worry, I will fly for this bit, said Beepoo, and he took control of the spaceship.
Speaker 1:They zoomed over towards a shop, a funny looking lolly shop that had a tiger's face on the front door. Hey, beepo, said the tiger as he came outside. Oh, hello, tiger pal. Oh, I'm so glad. Have you got some special lollies for my new lolly shop? I do, said Beepo. What are they called? They are called Lippy Loppy Party Poppies. Oh, that sounds amazing. Tiger Power took one of the pieces of the crystal out of one of the bags and had a taste. Oh, Beepo.
Speaker 2:These are the nicest things ever. Everybody's going to come from all over the planet to taste these.
Speaker 1:Yes, not just the planet, maybe all over the universe. Hooray, said Tiger Pal, my lolly shop is going to be even more of a success. Okay, boys, said Beepo, best to head home. Milo, would you like a turn at flying the spaceship? Uh, yes, please, said Milo. Hooray, said Beepo.
Speaker 1:So as they all climbed into the spaceship, milo sat in the pilot seat and as he thought about home, the spaceship started heading that direction. But Milo got a little bit distracted. He started thinking about the park as well, and the spaceship turned sideways at the very last minute. Whoa, where are we going, said Beepo. Oh sorry, said Milo. I was thinking about the park. Oh okay, said Beepo, let's go there.
Speaker 1:So they went to the park and had a quick play before heading back home. As they landed, beepo pulled two little bags out from underneath the seat he was sitting on. What's this, said Rowan, I saved some of the very special lollies just for you. Hooray, cheered the kids. Thank you, Beepo. No, thank you. It has been very much fun. We'll see you next time. They said Bye-bye, said Beepo, jumping back into his spaceship and flying away. As they walked back in the door of their house, their mummy was there waiting. Well, boys, how was it? Where did you go? What did you find? Well said, rowan, I don't think you'd believe us, even if we told you. And that is the end of the story.
